Dear son, Marish,

Lo and behold, the Dussehra festival has come again. I do not know what you are doing in the school for Dussehra. Every year Dussehra comes, every year ‘Ramlila is staged, every year effigy of Ravan is burnt. After the festival, we forget about it. When Dussehra comes again next year, we do the same things again. Did you know, before the effigy of Ravan is burnt, it is worshipped. In reality the story of Ram and Ravan is the story of good and evil. The story also conveys that even if a person becomes a great scholar or a great king, he faces a protest if he commits an anti-social act. The story is something like this - Ravan was a very intelligent man, a mathematics scholar and a devotee of Shiva. He had a divine promise that nobody could kill Ravan unless an arrow is struck at his navel. But to move the story forward Ravan also has to die Ram obtained this secret to kill Ravan from his estranged brother (Bibhishana) and kiled him. Ravans and Rams are born even now. Even in every human being, there is Ram as well as Ravan, if we name them good and evil. If we can win Ravan of our inside we can become our own Ram.

Marish, my son, try to become your own Ram. I will also try to do the same. My love to you,

Yours Ma
Gogi Saroj Pal
